Asheville, NC – May 31, 2023 – The Carolina Small Business Development Fund announced Julieta Fumberg as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 WWBC Mountain Climber award. This recognition highlights Julieta’s exceptional accomplishments as a small business owner, and her dedication to achieving remarkable growth and success, and a small business champion who is helping to grow North Carolina’s small business ecosystem.

The WWBC Mountain Climber award recognizes a WWBC client who has demonstrated leadership, growth, and triumph as a small business owner in Western North Carolina. Julieta Fumberg has performed the tremendous feat of starting and running a business that centers her passion and talents as an artist, while growing her endeavors to support herself and her family.

Julieta is a multidisciplinary artist, and her main mediums are acrylics, watercolors, graphic design, and photography. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Julieta has found a home in Asheville, and continues to channel her creativity and passion for art into her daily life as an artist and entrepreneur.

“Being an artist is what I was meant to be, and I knew it since I was a kid in Argentina growing up. Through adversity and with resilience, from being an immigrant to being a Latino Jew and artist, to being a part of a wonderful community in Western North Carolina, I couldn’t ask for a more accepting and encouraging community.” Julieta works to help as many people and businesses with their imagery needs, and believes that being creative is a way of life. She is deeply imbedded in Asheville’s business community, working to support events for local businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, and the WWBC.

“I am incredibly honored to receive the 2023 WWBC Mountain Climber award from the Carolina Small Business Development Fund,” said Julieta. “This recognition is meaningful to me, and I am grateful for the support of the Carolina Small Business Development Fund. “Through my talents I have helped hundreds of businesses throughout my 20 year career…through the ups and downs of being a business owner. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I know I can help this world be better through the work I do. Staying authentic to who I am gives me strength to help myself and others to accomplish their dreams.”

In 2014, Carolina Small Business Development Fund entered into a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration to start our Western Women’s Business Center. The WWBC serves a 22-county region in Western North Carolina, and since its inception, it has served more than 3,292 small businesses through technical assistance, capital access supports, and broader professional and business development offerings. “We congratulate Julieta Fumberg, the WWBC Mountain Climber,” shared Zurlima Anuel, Director WWBC. “We are grateful for her contributions to the beauty, vitality, and diversity of Asheville’s broader community.”
